Arochi & Lindner threw anything but a quiet event this Sunday evening at the Hall of Champions. They were in town for a lawyers convention and hosted a huge a industry party. They're a pretty big deal in Mexico City so it was only natural that they flew DJ Fernando Cervantes in to get the party started. Another thanks to RRR Associations and Vario Productions for pulling all the event details together for an amazing evening!

Dumont Bergman Bider & Co were in town last month from Mexico City and while here for their annual convention - they hosted a fabulous industry event at The Prado in Balboa Park. Thanks to the event team: RRR Associations and Vario Productions
Mai-Vy is a recent graduate from SDSU and I couldn't be happier for her! She graduated with a degree in Communications but during our photo shoot I was sure to tell her if that career path doesn't work out for her, the camera loves her and she could easily take up some modeling.
San Diego makes Senior portraits on a Friday afternoon so easy. We discovered a quiet little space in the park where we had beautiful purple hues and lush green backgrounds. As you can see below, these were mixed with some traditional cap and gown portraits. Congrats again to all the 2015 Graduates! Balboa Park is always a gorgeous location to photograph at and this recent graduation was no different. Students and families started to fill the Spreckels Organ Pavillon area where the ceremony took place early in the morning and you could feel a different energy amongst the students this year. The event had several great speakers, laughs and traditional cap throwing. I couldn't be more honored that Coleman University has asked me to photograph 4 consecutive graduation events for them. Special shout out to my second shooter Marisa Garcia for capturing some great moments. Congrats to all the 2015 Graduates of Coleman University.
Summer and James were the most fun and free-spirited couple I’ve photographed in a while. They had HUGE smiles, ear to ear, all afternoon as their small wedding took place at the San Diego Courthouse earlier this week.
Summer and her family came all the way from Chicago, while James had his best man all the way from Oregon by his side. James is currently stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and has been serving our country for two and a half years. These two are living proof that a small intimate wedding can be packed full of love (and lots of kisses). Wishing the two of them the very best! See more of this wedding and other weddings at my exclusive wedding website: http://creativeweddingsbyamy.com/journal/ The BLG, based out of Vancouver, BC, were recently in San Diego for a convention. They chose the lovely Palomar Hotel in Downtown San Diego to host their event. The evening, like most corporate events, had great food and plenty of great networking. Hotel Palomar did an excellent job as always creating that perfect ambiance by the poolside lounge.
Mini portrait sessions on Easter Sunday were such a success! I had a handful of families show up and we had a great time in the park. Here's a few highlights:
It’s all about love! These two are precious together and I’m so excited to see their love grow. I’ve know Sarah for over 7 years and her eyes just lit up when she first talked to me about her dates with Brent. Their wedding unfolded beautifully at the Summers Past Farms in Flinn Springs. I have to applaud Sarah for her grace in those high heels, she looked absolutely stunning from head to toe. Cheers to many years of happiness! Be sure to visit the wedding website to see more!

I couldn't wait to meet her little girl Sophia! She'll be turning one soon and we had the best little mini session last week in Poway. Not only did the bright balloons and pink dress make the shoot a success but Sophia's big smile and sparkling eyes did too! Happy Birthday Sophia!
I couldn't be happier for this lovely couple! I've followed them from their engagement, to their wedding and now the growth of their two little boys! They recently welcomed Nolan into their family and they're already prepping him for MLB. I can't wait to watch this family of 4 continue to grow over the upcoming years. *hugs*
I had such a wonderful time photographing this little angel a few weeks ago! She has the biggest blue eyes and cheeks that just make you melt. She's about 3 months now and growing by the minute.
This year I held my first boudoir event at a cozy hotel space in La Jolla, CA and it was such a success! The day started with hair and make-up by Katy Sullivan and let me just say she did an AMAZING job. All the ladies would stand behind how gorgeous she made the look. I absolutely love how each gal had her own story of how she ended up there. From being recently married and wanting a gift for the hubby, to another having lost nearly 90lbs in the past year - they each took a moment to have their inner and outer beauty shine.
For obvious reasons, most of the ladies wanted to keep their identity private - which I'm happy to do. If you're considering a boudoir session, don't hesitate to call (most importantly, don't hold off for the few extra pounds you keep saying you'll lose. There's never been a better time to just embrace yourself). Feel free to share with anyone who may be interested. I can't begin to express how happy I am for Hunter's new adventure in this world of ours. I'm so excited I had the opportunity to photograph him only a few days old. I've known this couple for several years and it just brings me so much joy to see their little family growing so quickly. It was just days before Christmas when he arrived and I was lucky enough to get over to their pad and spend an hour taking a few precious moments.
It was a pretty chilly day back on the east coast when we held our mini photo session with 3 lovely families. We weren't blessed with the snow covered grounds but it was still a fun working with the little ones and their parents. Everyone was such a sport in the 15 degree weather! (Thank goodness they were only mini sessions. I'm not sure we could have handled it much longer!)
This family has such a special place in my heart. I can't believe it was almost 10 years ago when I met Angela and Matt to photograph their wedding in Laguna Beach. Now they have four beautiful kids. It's been awesome watching them move around the country, grow and love as a family. Over the holidays they made their way down to the southern California area from Oregon. I was honored that they drove 2 hours for our photo session on the beach the morning of Christmas Eve. Grandma and Grandpa even joined in! Wishing them the very best in 2015!
Daniel was such a sweetheart to photograph! So was Byron (and if you know this couple you'll know right away how important this furry family member is.) Daniel is such a little bundle of love and I couldn't be happier for Michelle and Patrick! I'm wishing them the warmest holidays while they snuggle up closely with this little one.
You may recognize Brie from a post earlier this week. I was lucky enough to meet her two young boys for a quick mini session at Lake Chollas (one of my secret hidden lakes in San Diego). We played around near the water and went for a quick walk. Her boys are full of life and energy - similar to their mother! Brie is absolutely the sweetest and I look forward to photographing her more in the upcoming month as she continues to fight through these tough phases of her life.
p.s. Have I mentioned she's got the head wrap bow down to a science? And they always seem to be color coordinated with her daily outfit. It seems like I just took Shanah's maternity pictures - it's was so wonder to meet sweet little Tyler! I'm so excited for this little family to start new beginnings. Hope you enjoy some of these adorable photos from our mini session a few weeks ago.
It seems like it wasn't that long ago when I was photographing Sandee (a story from 2012) a woman who was fighting breast cancer, but I guess if I think about it - a lot of time has past. It wasn't until Sandee's death that I had somewhat of an awakening about my photography. It's as if I've been hibernating since I left my college photography classes. While I absolutely love photographing couples in love, families laughing, parents with their newborns, and local events (and let's face it San Diego has some pretty incredible events) - I constantly feel like I was given a talent to photograph on a deeper level. To tell the stories that aren't always easy. To tell the stories where I may find myself uncomfortable - even fighting back tears.
I was over the moon when I met Brie! We photographed her last chemo treatment together which was an real eye opener for me. Her energy and fierce attitude is similar to Sandee's and it's these stories I want to share. There are many forms of cancer amongst men and women; however I'm particularly drawn to women fighting breast cancer. The mental and emotional challenges of losing your hair and breasts, when we as woman are often defined by those single elements, is what makes it amazing to have someone like Brie come out on the other end with all smiles as she takes this head on. I created another site (http://www.helpfulhealingproject.com) a while back in hopes that these photographs and stories will eventually coming together some day (in a more complete website) to help empower other women going through these struggles. Here is Brie at her last day of Chemo... I've known Raunette as a design client since - oh, sometime around 2008 I'd have to say. I couldn't be happier when we started chatting about taking family photos this year. Besides being a good looking crew to photograph - I loved that they incorporated a few other members of the family that were close to them to the photo session. It was a nice break from the typical "parents + children" shoot photographers are usually asked this time of year. Happy Holidays Vaughn Family!
It's been a few years since I photographed Sami, but when we met up - it was like we never missed a beat. She's still so full of energy and easy going. In fact, when I said frolic in the water - she didn't hesitate. I love when folks are open to my suggestions (even if they don't always work out). Sami's had a lot of change going on in her life the past few years and when I look at these images - I feel it's a reflection of some inner peace she may have found within herself. She's the sweetest thing ever and I look forward to photographing her in the future!
Say "Hello" to the Rojas Family! Rick and Crystal must be doing something right because their 3 little ones were the best during our photo shoot! Their recent addition to the family, Keilani, is absolutely adorable (she too was so put together!) Wishing this family the best for the upcoming holidays! x-o-x-o
I met Bobbi and her adorable little girl while shopping at wholesale flowers over the summer. It was one of those days where I believe we were "just meant" to connect. As she sifted through some orchid arrangements, my mother and I began to chat with her. Before you knew it she offered to do the flower arrangements for my wedding and I was overjoyed with the idea of taking family portraits for her. We've met several times over coffee and words can't describe how serene Bobbi and her daughter are (well Bobbi, might say differently since I only get them in small doses).
Thanks for such a playful photo shoot on the beach! Much love - Amy I was so excited to see this couple in front of the camera again. It was their one year anniversary from their wedding and what perfect timing to do holiday portraits. If you would have know Eric on our first photo shoot years ago, you wouldn't have recognized him this time around. The two of them are just so damn cute together. They worked it like a GAP commercial photo shoot - well, until the NFL jersey's came on and then that's a different story!
Wishing the two of you lots of love and happiness this holiday season! Cheers - Amy Jay and Andy's wedding was such a beautiful event to photograph. I couldn't be more happy that they allowed me to be part of their wedding day. Their non-traditional wedding kicked off on Sunday just before lunch. Jay, Andy and a beautiful Polynesian woman greeted their guests as they arrived at the Bali Hai Restaurant; women were presented with a fresh leis which I must say was a lovely touch. Before their ceremony, they mingled amongst family and friends - hugs and storytelling flowed at a steady pace; as did the famous Mai Tai's. When it was time to walk down the aisle, it was especially sweet to see Andy's children walk them down to the alter. Did I mention how beautiful the alter was decorated? In fact, all the flowers at the venue that day were top notch. I almost forgot I wasn't in Hawaii. The ceremony was one of kind - laughs, tears and a beautiful backdrop of San Diego and sailboats. Throughout the day, the Polynesian dancers and entertainers kept a smile on everyone's face. The most touching moment for me (besides the heartfelt speeches) was seeing Andy's daughter give him a handwritten note on a napkin. Her words were beyond touching and I feel it speaks heavily on how a same-sex marriage with children can be so beautiful. It was truly a joyous day and I couldn't be happier for these two. I wish them many years of happiness! Aloha! Making this all happen…
