It's an introduction and tells your story: Headshots are a great opportunity to tell your story. It is your introduction and first impression and allows you to show your personality. When choosing a location, be sure to pick the location that best suits your career and suitable visual aesthetic. Let's make sure your headshots align with your brand, whether that’s personal, professional or both. It's a part of your branding: How does a headshot align with branding? Your headshot should represent a visual style and persona you want to reflect. For example, if you work in an industry of professional services who maintains business professional attire, your attire and headshot location should match that. It shows professionalism: That seems obvious right? But having a professional (and updated) headshot is crucial. When your current employer requests a headshot for the website or as part of a blog or social media post, you'll have it ready. Sending along a selfie or having your friend take a quick photo against a blank wall shows lack of preparation and professionalism. Choosing to invest into a professional headshot is a financial investment well worth the cost for your future. A quality headshot does more than just allow you to update your online avatar, it make you look good to potential employers. It infuses confidence in your own professional capabilities.
If you're ready to update your headshot for yourself or your entire team, simply fill out our contact form. The San Diego Bay, near Seaport Village, gave us a variety of great backdrops for Kaynin's senior photos! Looking for a mini or full hour session? Send us a message!
I've been a little obsessed with dreamcatchers as of late. I've been inspired by some desert related fine art prints and dreamed up this little styled shoot. I'm thankful to have a model that is easy going and will to play around in a cactus garden - I managed to be the only one that walked away with a few injuries. Enjoy! And please inquire if you're looking to do a styled/collaborate portrait shoot.
For some of us, the idea graduating from college with a 4 year degree comes easy to us. Marisa and I paraded around the SDSU campus last week like we owned the place. It was until she messaged me after seeing the photographs, that I realized how important these photographs were to her and her family. Many of us may take for granted the countless opportunities we have to chose from an array of colleges and univeristies after high school. Marisa's family came to the states from the Philippines several years ago and it was her grandfather's dream to get a higher education. Marisa is a fellow photographer here in San Diego, so I was honored when she asked me to do graduation photos for her!
Husband and wife team Scott and Debra Salyer are the founders and heart behind Wren HiFi. They have love for designing and building commissioned furniture pieces and VINYL! The combination of these two loves led them to the birth of Wren HiFi Record Consoles.
These two are so ahead of the curve, that Scott was recently contacted by GQ in Germany. They're in the process of writing up an article of him and his work. Which bring us to last weekend - we cranked out a quick little shoot for them at Mister Brown's Barber Shop in North Park where you can find their prototype of the their record consoles. Hopefully we'll be seeing a copy of the GQ issue in the near future. When I first met Ashley from Adore Wedding Design, she immediately reminded me of my life long grade school BFF with her soft spoken voice and sweet disposition. Once I found out she was a transplant from the east coast...it all made sense! (Since I'm from the east coast as well.)
I absolutely admire Ashley's talent and eye for design for weddings. It's been such a great year getting to know her and her business. You can check her website out here: www.adoreweddingdesign.com or find her on all the major social media sites. Meet Jessica. She's as vibrant in photographs as she is in person. Our story actually began on social media! Jessica has one impressive background (Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Business) which in a whirlwind of combining it with her other passions led her the land of entrepreneurship and - WEDDINGS!
She started Bluestocking Weddings & Events in 2014. She creates a unique experience for each of her clients. Be sure to check out her site at www.bluestockingevents.com or find her over on the social media sites. Mai-Vy is a recent graduate from SDSU and I couldn't be happier for her! She graduated with a degree in Communications but during our photo shoot I was sure to tell her if that career path doesn't work out for her, the camera loves her and she could easily take up some modeling.
San Diego makes Senior portraits on a Friday afternoon so easy. We discovered a quiet little space in the park where we had beautiful purple hues and lush green backgrounds. As you can see below, these were mixed with some traditional cap and gown portraits. Congrats again to all the 2015 Graduates! It's been a few years since I photographed Sami, but when we met up - it was like we never missed a beat. She's still so full of energy and easy going. In fact, when I said frolic in the water - she didn't hesitate. I love when folks are open to my suggestions (even if they don't always work out). Sami's had a lot of change going on in her life the past few years and when I look at these images - I feel it's a reflection of some inner peace she may have found within herself. She's the sweetest thing ever and I look forward to photographing her in the future!
MShip is absolutely one my favorite clients of 2013. Not only do they have an awesome view of downtown and of the San Diego bay from their office window - they have awesome people that work there as well. We collaborated over the summer months on their new website and most recently I was hired to photograph in their office. They're kind of "a big darn deal" around San Diego with M80 Stiletto creating all sorts of waves over the years, but keep your eye out on them in the upcoming year. Until then, enjoy a few corporate photographs I took. Did I mention their view? Bill Burns (Co-Founder, Executive Director) above. Part of the MShip Co. team below.
Holly Berkley, one of San Diego's finest social media experts, was a natural in front of the camera. We recently met up to snap some casual business photographs in South Park for her to use in upcoming publications. Check out a few of them below, along with the back cover of her most recent book (Social Media in Action). Sheri Sheri - where to begin. To me, she seems to be one of those souls that you cross rarely in life. She has this calm demeanor yet something so wild about how she wants to live life. Whether it's lemons or lemonade, she'll find a way to enjoy it. After meeting during the Artist Way workshop, we collaborated on this idea of doing some "non-traditional" business portraits.
